APREMC-II’s objective is to take stock of, and analyze progress made, to date, in the Asia-Pacific region towards achieving the SDG 4 goals since the adoption by the United Nations of the SDG 2030 Agenda in 2015, and to jointly reflect on, and generate recommendations for an effective educational recovery and transformation, with ‘learning for all’ as a central principle.

APREMC-II is the follow-up edition of the high-level 2014 Asia-Pacific Regional Education Conference (APREC), which discussed issues, challenges and priorities for education in the region beyond 2015, and developed Asia-Pacific regional recommendations for the post-2015 global education agenda.

The conference was jointly organized by the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education and the UNICEF Regional Offices for East Asia and Pacific, and South Asia; and co-hosted by the Royal Thai Government with generous support provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) of Thailand.
