Global Platform for Gender Equality and Girls’ and Women’s Empowerment in and through Education

Global Platform for Gender Equality and Girls’ and Women’s Empowerment in and through Education

The Platform is a multi-stakeholder forum that includes government representatives, leaders, partners, champions, and a broad array of stakeholders and activists.

The expected outcomes of the Platform are:

  • accountability: education stakeholders are equipped with data and evidence to hold partners accountable on progress against their commitments on gender equality in and through education
  • action: leaders and decision-makers take proactive and transformative measures to address the key barriers to gender equality in and through education, focusing on the most marginalized
  • learning: high-impact transformative solutions and learning on gender equality in and through education are documented, evaluated and shared

The Platform will be operational for 4 years, until 2026.

Strategies and activities

Global Platform members are convened annually between 2023 and 2026 to track action against the gender-related TES and other commitments, identify gaps in service provision and finance, and drive evidence-informed action – with a focus on the most marginalized.

Key activities

Platform members advocate for and provide capacity development to promote gender-transformative education policies, plans, management information systems, curricula, learning resources and teacher training.
